Comments from Pub Theology

“I thought last night was a great topic full of different perspectives and that is what drives productive discussion. I enjoy everyone’s thoughts and as a younger person among the group I was surprised to have some of the same ideas as the others. I was really excited going into Pub Theology and even more excited leaving with new thoughts in my head to think about more.”

Topic: What does the good life look like?

  • Can’t live your life thinking the good life is some imagined future life, because nothing ever works out the way you think. Find it here and now.
  • Being at peace with who you are. If a person is not at peace with herself, then whatever else she imagines as the good life will have no meaning, because she will never find satisfaction.
  • Truly understanding that God is with you and loves you.
  • Being able to help others.
  • Once you are faced with a life threatening illness, your perspective on everything changes.
  • Although we like to say that money does not matter, that is not true, especially when you don’t have any money.
  • If you are going to tithe (donate) give generously from the best you have to give, not from the worst.
  • It is not worrying about the future. Fear for the future makes it hard to appreciate current good.
