The Good Shepherd community coordinates a variety of projects that reach those in need locally, nationally and internationally. Good Shepherd’s Outreach Committee is always looking for new ideas in addition to the following ongoing projects:
Snack Bag Ministry – loading snack bags on the 3rd Sunday each month to supplement meals for Upper Merion School District children. This project is in cooperation with the Upper Merion Area Community Cupboard.
Non-perishable Food Collection Box – collecting food in the Narthex and delivering it to the Upper Merion Area Community Cupboard.
Blood Drive – hosting blood drives each year and collecting over 60 pints of blood for the Red Cross.
Upper Merion School District Partnership – Good Shepherd, along with other area churches, collects gift cards and other items for students in need.
Operation Shining Star – providing gifts for Gemma Services’ Martin Luther School, which serves children who struggle with emotional and behavioral challenges by offering residential and community-based mental health services. Each year we collect 100 gifts and gift cards in order to provide the children in residence an amazing (and for some their first) Christmas morning.
Monthly Outreach – an opportunity for giving. Some of the organizations we have sponsored are Bear Creek Camp, Lutheran Disaster Response, UNICEF, Lutheran World Relief, American Red Cross, Neighborhood Meals on Wheels, United Lutheran Seminary, and more.
