If you make purchases from any of these retailers, you can help Good Shepherd!
It’s easy!
Good Shepherd is enrolled in a program that enables us to raise money for the church by offering gift cards, just like the ones available in all of your local stores…and then some!
Here’s how it works: You choose whatever gift cards you are interested in. Almost any retailer you can think of is available. For a complete list, go to www.RaiseRight.com/brands. This website also tells you what percentage Good Shepherd will receive (these percentages may change weekly). You pay face value, and Good Shepherd receives a portion of your purchase without you doing anything additional.
Gift cards are ordered once each month. Your order is due by 3 pm on the first Sunday of each month, and the cards are available for you to pick up by the next Sunday. Payment is due when you receive the cards. Here’s of how to order:
- Email Karen Lehman (karen_lehman@verizon.net) a list of the gift cards and amounts you would like OR
- Bring to church a written request listing the cards and amounts you want with a check payable to Good Shepherd. You can bring it to the office, place in the offering plate, or give directly to Karen Lehman OR
- Order online – this is a little tricky. If you’re not comfortable with technology, please choose a different option. If you love to order online, go to www.RaiseRight.com. They will ask you to enroll. Please use the enrollment code B5E89DAC35656 for Good Shepherd. You must provide your name, but you do not need to tell them who you are raising money for. You can leave that section blank.
If you are hesitating because you are currently using a credit card that offers rebates, points or other redemption offers, consider this…
THE MONEY THAT GOOD SHEPHERD EARNS ON EACH CARD YOU PURCHASE MAY BE
TAX DEDUCTIBLE ON YOUR TAX RETURN IF YOU ITEMIZE.
In other words, if you purchase $1,000 in gift cards in a given calendar year, and the average card percentage is 8%, you may receive a statement from Good Shepherd for an additional $80 donation. Just one recent example… L.L. Bean offered 18% for any gift card purchased. In other words, if one member of the congregation purchased a $100 gift card, $18 would be given to Good Shepherd! In addition, the $18 would may be tax deductible on your taxes if you itemize your deductions because the 18% is going to a non-profit organization!
If you’ve never participated in the program, fall is a great time to try it out. Christmas is coming, and gift cards make great gifts! If you have any questions about the program, contact Karen Lehman, karen_lehman@verizon.net
