Welcome to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where the door is always open.
“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:2
This passage, which comes from Paul’s letter, is making reference to a story from the Hebrew Scriptures (Genesis 18: 1-15). In this story, Abraham and Sarah are visited by three strangers. Instead of turning them away, they welcomed them into their tent, offering them hospitality and refreshments. Much to their surprise the three guests had come to bring them amazing news. Abraham and Sarah, this childless elderly couple, were going to have a baby! Would they have heard this news if they had they turned the visitors away? The world will never know.
At Good Shepherd we make welcoming visitors a priority. Wherever you come from, whatever your life circumstances, please know that you will find a warm welcome here. We are a group of people on a journey together. We do not claim to have all the answers, but we believe that within the community of faith we find the strength to wrestle with life’s questions.
Our worship is both lively and participatory. We have an inclusive bulletin which makes it easy for members and visitors to participate in worship. In addition to a ‘grown-up’ sermon, there is a children’s message. We believe that our identity is shaped by our worship. It is from this place, that we go forth into service. We have plenty of opportunities for you to do just that!
Join us. The door is always open.
Yours in Christ,
