Rev. Julie DeWerth
Pastor at Good Shepherd

Pastor Julie DeWerth began her ministry at The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd on June 1, 2010. Ordained in 1991, she has served as pastor of four other Lutheran churches in the Philadelphia area; Saint Paul’s Lionville, Saint Paul Lansdowne, Saint Paul’s Ardmore and Saint Petri Hope Philadelphia.
Pastor Julie DeWerth grew up in Westport, Connecticut. She is a proud graduate of Saint Olaf College (1987) and The Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia (1991).
She resides in Havertown Pennsylvania with her three teenage sons; Samuel, Luke and Jacob.

Steve McBride
Director of Music Ministries

Our Director of Music Ministries, Steve McBride, has been singing in choirs since he was a young boy. His love of singing and conducting grew from many experiences singing at The Church of the Holy Trinity in West Chester, PA. While at Holy Trinity, the inspiration of Courtland E. Dunn, Jr. led Steve to his love of the organ. Since the age of 14, he has been serving congregations as organist and/or choir director including, The Church of the Holy Trinity in West Chester, PA and The First Presbyterian Church of West Chester, PA.
Steve attended West Chester University as an Organ Performance Major and studied voice with Alan Wagner, conducting with Dr. David Sprenkle, and organ with Anita Greenlee. Steve has also studied with Stefan Engels and Glenn Kinckner, organ, and Cal Brackin, voice. During his time at WCU, he was also awarded First Place in the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition. Throughout the region, Steve also works as an accompanist and conductor. He served for three years as Assistant Conductor of The Choristers, an auditioned concert choir based in Montgomery County, PA. In the fall of 2007, Steve was appointed the Guest Conductor of The West Chester Ecumenical Choir. From time to time, he also serves as Musical Director for West Chester Henderson High School’s Musical Theatre Program, where he directed Forum, Into the Woods, The Pajama Game, My Fair Lady. In January of 2010 he organized the Valley Forge Chorale, a community choir which rehearses at Good Shepherd with Steve its Artistic Director. The Chorale’s inaugural performance was held in May 2010.
Steve is on the staff of R. A. Daffer Church Organs as a Regional Representative for Rodgers Organs and other Pipe Organ Projects.
