Collecting "gently used" blankets
for Lutheran World Relief: Blankets can be dropped off any Wednesday
to a H&H's meeting or marked for LWR/HH and left in the church
office. They are packaged and delivered annually to a local church
which sponsors an "In-Gathering" each December. From
there, they travel to LWR Donation Center in Baltimore, MD.Collecting
items specified by LWR for Health Kits: These items are assembled
and packed into kits and delivered to a local church which sponsors
an "In-Gathering" each April. From there, they are sent
to the LWR Donation Center in Baltimore, MD. This past year, our
goal was 100 kits. We were pleased to complete and deliver 107
as a result of your generous support. A wicker basket is in place
in the narthex to receive donated items.
Please remember that those old pairs of
eye-glasses you no longer use due to disrepair or perhaps a new
prescription may benefit someone in need. We collect and donate
them to The Lions Club in support of their endeavors to aid the
sight impaired. There is a receptacle above the coat rack in the
narthex for these donations.
Collecting labels for education: Campbell/Swanson/Pepperidge
Farms/Progresso Soups/Franco-American product labels and General
Mills "boxtops for education" are distributed to Martin
Luther Silver Springs School and the Bethesda Lutheran Home for
the mentally challenged. There is a receptacle above the coat
rack in the narthex for these donations.
Rebates from Acme tapes are our greatest
source of income. Money generated from this endeavor has enabled
us to fund particular needs to the church buildings and property,
host various receptions and defray the cost of supplies and shipping
of our mission projects. Please remember to save your Acme tapes
and place them in the receptacle abovethe coat rack in the narthex.Rebates
from Genuardi Stores is effected in a different manner. A registration
form must be completed annually in August or September by each
member. Forms can be found on the kiosk in the narthex.
Donations of yarn and fabric are always
appreciated.
